Richard M. Welch, Jr. (Rick) is the President and Chief Investment Officer of Academy Wealth Advisers. He is responsible for managing all client relationships, portfolio management services, diversification and asset allocation strategies, investment research, performance reporting, compliance and marketing.
Prior to founding this firm, Rick had extensive corporate ownership experience. He was the cofounder of RIMIRO Corporation which would become a fully integrated municipal waste collection, landfill and recycling company. RIMIRO and its subsidiaries were merged into Waste Management, Inc. He was the President and a shareholder of Minuteman Lubricants, an industrial lubricant manufacturer with operations in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. Minuteman was merged into Agip Petroli, S.p.A., a subsidiary of Italian multinational oil and gas company, Eni, S.p.A. He served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1981 to 1986.
Rick holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy, a Master of Science in Systems Management from the University of Southern California and a Master of Science in Finance from Temple University. He holds FINRA Licenses 63 and 65 and Pennsylvania Life Insurance and Variable Annuity Licenses.
He has been married to his wife, Susan, for 31 years and has three grown children. He has long been active in his community having served as the President of a local school board and as a coach in youth sports. He formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Heritage Conservancy which is an accredited conservation organization that specializes in open space conservation, natural resource protection and historic structure preservation.
